WESTFORD — Disability Commission navigates member losses, focuses on town accessibility. The Westford Commission on Disability addresses leadership vacancies following resignations of Scott Hazelton and Jamie Allard (Secretary). New applicant Ali Mahady, who brings professional experience from Perkins School for the Blind, was introduced to the five-member advisory body.
The Commission discussed accessibility concerns at the Parish Center for the Arts, including slippery rear steps used by the Westford Chorus and other community organizations, and will seek formal guidance on procedures for escalating accessibility issues to town staff. The Commission also explored collaboration with Police Chief Chambers on accessible parking enforcement and disability-awareness training for officers. Ongoing accessibility work continues on the J.V.
Fletcher Library renovation and the Westford Community Gardens. Next meeting: March 11, 2026.
