Health Insurance Trust Fund · Meeting of June 11, 2026

WESTFORD — Health Insurance Trust reviews claims trends and reserve strategy. The Westford Health Insurance Trust, chaired by Town Manager Kristen Las, examined claims experience and discussed the development of a formal reserve policy as the Trust holds a cash balance of $5.731 million as of May 31, 2026. Finance Director Dan O'Donnell reported that GLP-1 weight-loss medications have cost approximately $1 million annually, with Blue Cross Blue Shield formulary changes expected to reduce future costs.

Members discussed Select Board requests to evaluate reserve levels, potential use of Trust reserves to offset future health insurance costs, and alternatives including the Group Insurance Commission, with no formal decisions made pending additional analysis.
