Affordable Housing Trust approves expanded rental aid program

Westford Affordable Housing Trust expands rental assistance for at-risk families. The committee unanimously voted to increase its WRAP program capacity to eight families, up from five, and require online financial literacy training as part of the program, addressing concerns the program would reach capacity by February. Chair Joan Croteau presented two Community Preservation Act applications: a $50,000 request for emergency rental assistance and a proposed down-payment loan program for affordable housing units, both supported by the trust pending further research on loan terms and resale restrictions.
The trust is developing a detailed housing needs assessment to complement the town's four-year Housing Production Plan.
