Board of Health Launches Rodenticide Replacement Pilot at Cameron Senior Center

Westford Board of Health approves rodenticide replacement pilot program at senior center. The four-member board, with members Stephanie Granger, Joanne Belanger, Dr. Stephan Goupil, and Maeghan Hughes present, unanimously approved its April 13 meeting minutes and voted 4-0-0 to defer officer elections to the next meeting.
Health Department staff will conduct a six-to-twelve-month pilot program at Cameron Senior Center to replace rodenticide bait stations with mechanical traps and integrated pest management methods to reduce secondary poisoning of wildlife. The board agreed to submit comments to the Planning Board addressing public health concerns regarding battery energy storage systems, flagging fire risks, toxic gas releases, groundwater contamination, and proximity to schools and sensitive facilities.
