Cemetery board standardizes narrower monument sizes across town

Westford cemetery board standardizes monument permit dimensions for all cemeteries. The Board of Cemetery Commissioners voted unanimously May 14 to reset monument standards town-wide, reducing maximum widths from two feet six inches to two feet for single grave lots and from three feet six inches to three feet for double and three-grave lots, responding to design constraints at Pine Grove Section I. The board approved a $19,730 estimate for gazebo renovation at Fairview Cemetery and will seek Community Preservation Committee funding.
Commissioner Jennifer Johnson will not renew her three-year term ending June 30; Cemetery Division Supervisor Connor Mendes reported the budget in good shape.
