WESTFORD — The Westford Conservation Commission approved a 35-foot expansion of the community garden and a formal apiary buffer zone. Garden coordinators Pooja Kapoor, Laura Thome and Bharat Shankar said the project, fully funded by the garden, would add about 19 new 15-by-15 plots amid a 25-to-26-household waiting list. Agricultural Commission chair Marco Laila said "the farmer has no problem driving down to that part of the field," urging priority for gardeners over a future farmer lease.
The commission also voted to support Special Town Meeting Article 6, raising the East Boston Camps maintenance revolving fund's spending cap from $80,000 to $150,000, after a $40,000 septic repair this year nearly exhausted the account. Four other wetlands hearings, including 7 Weber Road and a Durkee Lane subdivision, were continued to October 28.
