Finance Committee approves $70,427 snow and ice transfer to school budget

WESTFORD — Finance Committee unanimously approves $70,427 transfer to cover school snow and ice overages. The School Department, which historically used School Choice funds to cover such overages, requested the allocation from the Finance Committee's $100,000 reserve after this winter's severe weather pushed expenses beyond budget. Committee members also heard a 30-minute presentation from Lockton Insurance Consultant Pat Haraden on the town's self-insured health plan and four cost-control options, ranging from maintaining the current structure to joining the Group Insurance Commission for estimated savings of $3.6 million.
No health plan decisions were made; the tri-board agreed to develop multiple scenarios and identify a preferred direction by September.
