Select Board Approves Town Farm Road Housing Closing
Other Committee · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Westford Select Board closes on 35 Town Farm Road housing, sets 10-article fall warrant. The board voted unanimously to authorize Interim Town Manager Michael Edwards to sign closing documents for the long-delayed affordable housing project at 35 Town Farm Road, expected to close around October 15 after roughly six years of work. Members also set an October 26 special town meeting warrant including a specialized energy code effective January 1, 2028, and a home-rule petition for an additional liquor license tied to Guiteras Company's planned brew pub at 5 Technology Park Drive.
The Westford Tax Working Group, including Select Board member Elizabeth Sawyer, presented data showing the town's industrial tax base has declined nearly 20 percent in assessed value since 2017 while residential bills rose 38.7 percent over the past decade, pushing the residential-commercial tax ratio to roughly 90-10. Outgoing Town Manager Kristen Loss was honored in her final meeting before Edwards takes over October 1. A proposed $1.5 million billboard donation agreement was continued to October pending Haystack Observatory interference questions.
