Westford Agricultural Commission approves garden conservation agreement. The commission unanimously approved changes to the Memorandum of Understanding governing the Community Garden on Day Field, addressing conservation requirements after concerns emerged about an improperly constructed sun shelter that was not built to code. The garden operates at full capacity with all plots occupied and fully paid; approximately 15 people remain on the waitlist, and 85 percent of current gardeners are returning.
The Westford Community Beekeepers Committee plans to expand from four to eight hives by year end, introducing a Saskatraz bee strain from Canada known for winter hardiness and natural mite resistance.
