Westford Seeks Volunteers To Staff Elections, Town Meetings

Westford is asking residents to step forward to help run the town's elections and Town Meetings, even as a seat on the Conservation Commission sits open and the Town Manager's August newsletter lands with an update on municipal priorities.

TOWN HALL

The town is recruiting community members to help support elections and Town Meetings, according to a notice posted on the town's website, as officials look to fill roles ahead of the fall election season. Westford is also seeking a resident to fill an opening on the Conservation Commission, one of several volunteer board seats the town is working to fill this summer. Separately, the Town Manager's August newsletter is now available on the town website with an update on ongoing municipal projects.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The J.V. Fletcher Library hosts a virtual talk on the history of Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 7 to 8 p.m. on Zoom, tracing the two Boston landmarks to their 1742 and 1826 openings. The library's Monday Mystery Book Club meets Aug. 24 at the Roudenbush Community Center, where much of the library's adult programming is running during the ongoing renovation and expansion of the Groton Road building. Teens interested in volunteering can also join the library's Young Adult Advisory Board, which helps plan programming, community outreach and book purchasing and offers community service hours.

COMING UP

Westford holds a free Hands Only CPR, AED and choking relief class Tuesday, Aug. 18. The town's Public Shade Tree Hearing and the Westford 300th Anniversary Committee both meet Thursday, Aug. 20. The library's Stickerpalooza program for kids and families follows Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Roudenbush Community Center.
