Board of Health bans kratom sales effective April 1

Westford Board of Health bans kratom sales in town beginning April 1. Board members Stephanie Granger and Maeghan Hughes led the unanimous approval of the regulation following discussion of public input supporting and opposing the ban. The board concluded that kratom products sold locally are primarily synthetic or unregulated, supporting the comprehensive prohibition.
Health Department staff will conduct public and retailer education efforts ahead of implementation.
