School Committee · Meeting of July 21, 2026

Westford's Robinson School Building Committee voted 9-0 by roll call to submit its Preliminary Design Program to the Massachusetts School Building Authority. Owner's project manager Brian Jarvis of Vertex told officials cost estimates for the project range from $119 million to $142 million for a 470-student option up to $198 million to $250 million for a 1,065-student option consolidating three elementary schools. The MSBA has committed to reimbursing at least 48 percent of eligible costs, but architect Jenny Kadiamaki said square footage beyond a 705-student school would not be reimbursed.

Resident Bob Jeffries called the state's cost-first process "upside down," while architect Lee Sherwood said the team was "pretty confident" it had identified "the right building." The School Committee will vote on enrollment size October 19, with site selection following October 27.
