Water Board rejects MIT's draft water connection agreement

Westford Water Board votes unanimously to stand firm on standard connection agreement with MIT. The board voted 3-0 to reject MIT's draft agreement and require the utility to accept the Water Department's standard form, citing concerns about restrictions on the MIT name and responsibility for contaminated soil liability. In concurrent business, the board discussed a property line dispute at 4 Grove Street where residents have requested expansion of their property by 2,300 square feet to include a 1974-era retaining wall, though a failed septic inspection revealed that the wall, a garage, and a swimming pool encroach on Water Department land.
The board deferred decision pending further investigation into whether the disputed Water Department property is needed for future wells or storage tanks.
