Westford board approves $1.5 million in library project payments

Town Board · Meeting of June 1, 2026

Westford library rebuild passes one year, boards approve $1.5 million in payments. The Permanent Town Building Committee and the J.V. Fletcher Library Board of Trustees voted 12-0-0 Monday to approve $1,535,303.37 in construction warrants after CHA project manager Jennifer reported steel erection complete and zero safety incidents in a year of work on the new library.

Committee member Megan questioned a roughly $30,000 downward revision to a Hutter payment tied to disputed completion percentages on doors, roofing and HVAC work, calling it "a little bit of the sausage being made that we typically wouldn't say." The project's contingency fund stands at 11.96 percent used, or $470,286.09, with change orders to date totaling roughly $400,000. The boards also cleared three change orders worth $25,269 and scheduled a special meeting for June 8 to act on six more purchase orders.
