Westford Opens Bow Hunting Permit Applications July 1 for Fall Season

The town is opening bow hunting permit applications next week, while J.V. Fletcher Library kicks off a full slate of summer programming as residents head into the July Fourth holiday weekend.

Residents interested in hunting on town-managed land this fall have a narrow window to apply. The town announced that bow hunting season begins September 1, 2026, with permit applications accepted from July 1 through August 7. Permits will be issued by August 14. COMMUNITY & ARTS

J.V. Fletcher Library's summer calendar is picking up steam, with the "Plant a Seed, Read!" Summer Reading Program now underway for all ages. The Monday Mystery Book Club meets Monday, June 29, at the Roudenbush Community Center, third floor. On Tuesday, June 30, a ZMakesBeads with Zangar beadmaking program is offered for children and teens, also at Roudenbush. A Craft Lounge drop-in for tweens and teens is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1.

Looking ahead into early July, the library will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. On Wednesday, July 8, the library partners with Good Pickin' Farm at 5 Gould Road for a Farm on the Go field visit for families, running from 10 a.m. to noon. A Middle Grade Book Club also meets July 8. The Adult Book Club meets Thursday, July 9, at the temporary library location.
