WESTFORD — The Westford Zoning Board worked out a 12-car cap and trimmed Saturday hours for a North Street auto repair shop after neighbors complained of up to 24 vehicles crowding the lot. The board voted 5-0 to accept withdrawal of a separate used-car dealer application tied to the property, then spent nearly an hour negotiating conditions for the shop's lapsed special permit, including removing an old lift within 60 days and barring parking in the rear gravel lot except a registered snowplow truck. Neighbor Tom Kelley told the board "the noise really hasn't been an issue," while the shop's new owner, not named on the record, asked members, "What do you suggest as a repair shop I should do if I get that much volume?" The board continued the permit decision to September 16 for a written vote.
Separately, the board approved special permits for additions at 6 Robert Road and 2 Beach Road, both 5-0, and found a 25,000-gallon wastewater pre-treatment tank at Avalon a nonsubstantial change to its comprehensive permit.
