Clean Energy Committee pursues MA Climate Leader status by year end

Clean Energy & Sustainability Committee · Meeting of April 8, 2026

WESTFORD — The Westford Clean Energy Committee approved its 2026 work priorities, centered on securing Massachusetts Climate Leader status by year end. The designation requires state adoption of the Specialized Energy Code, with Andrea Peraner-Sweet heading a working group to prepare the adoption for Town Meeting. MA Climate Leader status would unlock energy grants comparable to the $1 million awards Acton and Chelmsford each received.

The town is advancing building projects including a new Library opening May 2027 with eight electric vehicle charging stations and the 35 Town Farm Road affordable housing project, which has completed permitting and may begin construction June or July 2026.
