Committee pursues state Climate Leader status by year-end

Westford clean energy committee charted path to Climate Leader certification by year-end. The Clean Energy and Sustainability Committee discussed coordinating adoption of the state Specialized Energy Code, a Zero Emission Vehicles First policy, and a municipal decarbonization strategy by December 2026 to achieve state Climate Leader status. The Power Options Program, in operation since January 2021 and renewed under a new contract in December 2025, has saved subscribers an average of $1,541 annually, totaling more than $12 million, and generated 44 million kilowatt-hours of renewable energy.
