Recycling Commission allocates $2,000 for food waste drop-off program

Westford Recycling Commission committed $2,000 to incentivize food waste drop-off at Abbott School. In a unanimous vote, the commission also recommended the Sustainable Procurement Policy, emphasizing reduction of single-use products and waste minimization. Chair George Haines noted the Electronics Recycling event experienced unprecedented demand last year, with vendors closing gates early; the commission is considering additional rows, advance reservations, and extended hours for next year.

The commission faces staffing challenges as member Clark Spyker declines renewal and member Elizabeth Sawyer departs, reducing the body to four members from six.
