DEI Committee backs community engagement listening sessions
Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee · Meeting of March 25, 2026
Westford's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee unanimously endorsed the Engagement Project, a listening-sessions initiative designed to boost civic participation among underrepresented residents including youth and renters, supporting the town's strategic goal for a "Caring and Engaged Community." The committee moved forward with a June 19 public reading of Frederick Douglass at First Parish Church United, featuring UMass Lowell historian Dr. Robert Forrant and funded by a $1,800 Massachusetts Humanities grant. Committee members are recruiting applicants for student seats and managing member renewals as Nancy Cook, student Kate Kelly, and student Harsheta Krishnakumar depart.
