Westford DEI Committee approves Pride Festival participation and Transgender Day proclamation

Westford DEI Committee unanimously backs Pride Festival and proclamation efforts. The committee voted to support Westford's continued participation in the June 27 Acton-Westford Pride Festival, authorizing use of the town seal on promotional materials and a town-to-town agreement. Members also approved language for a Select Board proclamation designating March 31, 2026 as Transgender Day of Visibility.
The committee allocated $100 to $200 for DEI table giveaways at the Pride event and encouraged volunteer participation. The Frederick Douglass Public Reading Working Group reported planning for a June 19 event featuring UMass Lowell historian Dr. Robert Forrant and trauma-informed facilitator Ms.
Saadia Ahmad, with a submitted Mass Humanities grant request for a maximum of $1,800.
