WESTFORD — Planning Board approves scenic road permit for Stony Brook Bridge replacement project. The board voted 5-0 to close the public hearing and 5-0 to approve the Scenic Road Permit for MassDOT Highway Division's application to allow tree and stone wall removal and relocation necessary for bridge rehabilitation along Stony Brook Road. Abutter Donna DiGiovine of 51 Stony Brook Road contested the project's adherence to the scenic road bylaw and questioned the need for replacement, but Board Chair Mike Bonenfant stated the State and Town Engineering Department have determined the bridge structurally unsafe and the town is responsible for maintenance and safety.
Five other development applications were continued without discussion to the May 18 meeting, including the multi-family project at 219 Littleton Road, which drew extensive discussion of snow storage, outdoor amenity space, drainage concerns, and traffic impacts over multiple review cycles.
