Select Board liaison Sean Kelley confirmed the proposal excludes Medicare supplement plan changes "at least for the time being" and will go before the Trust, chaired by the town manager, at a remote meeting Tuesday, August 18, at 9 a.m. Retiree Blair Betancourt, 78, a 36-year town employee, told the board "retirees such as myself have no choice about what they do with how they pay their insurance." His wife, Mary Betancourt, described living with 16 medical conditions and said of her cancer diagnosis, "It is not curable." Former employee Jody Ross asked the board to extend 2.5 percent budget discipline town-wide, not just to health insurance.
