Select Board · Meeting of August 11, 2026
Westford's Select Board voted 5-0 to launch a Town Manager Search Committee and seek an executive search firm after Town Manager Kristen Las's resignation, effective September 30. The committee will include two Select Board members, one Finance Committee member, one School Committee member and seven resident-at-large members, after the board dropped two alternate seats. The board also authorized the Recycling Commission to send a letter supporting statewide paint stewardship legislation, and heard that the 35 Town Farm Road affordable housing project has secured more than $24 million in financing, bringing its total budget to $26.2 million.
Agricultural Commission Chair Mark O'Lalor warned that Hill Orchard's "ripe peaches, nectarines, plums, pears, apples are literally falling from the trees" without a maintenance contract in place. Retirees including Linda Garvey told the board they felt "blindsided" by a lack of communication on upcoming health insurance changes, which the board continued to its August 14 meeting.
