Westford's Select Board accepted Town Manager Kristen Las's resignation announcement and voted 5-0 to back state road-safety camera legislation. Las, departing September 30 for a deputy town manager post in Shrewsbury, called her three and a half years "an incredible honor and privilege." Police Chief Chambers warned the camera bill, H.3745/S.2344, would strain staffing, noting Westford already issues nearly 5,000 citations a year, but the board voted to support it anyway, with member Tom Clay moving the motion and Chair Chris Barrett seconding. The board also voted 5-0 to sign the order of taking for the Stony Brook Bridge Rehabilitation Project, clearing the way for an August construction bid, and accepted a $195,000 MassDOT grant for Flushing Pond Road reconstruction.
Separate 5-0 votes appointed Andrew Spanos, Ryan Whelpley and Katherine Arnold to the Zoning Board of Appeals, Bridget Arciero to the Commission on Disabilities, and Laura Granato to the Recycling Commission.
