Separately, American and Massachusetts flags at town buildings were lowered to half-staff starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday and will remain so through sunset on Sept. 1, a mark of respect for the memory of Dolly Parton. The town is also seeking community members to help support upcoming elections and Town Meetings, and this week released its August Town Manager's newsletter.

COMING UP This week's town calendar includes a Conservation Commission meeting Wednesday, Aug. 26, and the Board of Water Commissioners' monthly meeting and a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee meeting, both Thursday, Aug. 27. At the J.V. Fletcher Library's temporary Groton Road location, the Adult Nonfiction Book Club meets Tuesday, Sept. 1.
