Library Trustees Approve $213,692 FY27 Book Budget

Westford library trustees approved a $213,692 fiscal year 2027 book budget. Chair Glen Secor led the board through unanimous approvals for book purchases across five vendors: Ingram ($80,200), Overdrive ($77,000), Midwest/hoopla ($49,017), Kanopy ($3,000), and Freegal/MVLC ($4,475). The trustees also unanimously authorized the National Grid easement for library property utilities, affirmed membership in the Metropolitan Valley Library Consortium, and approved donation of surplus materials to Friends Book Sales.
Director Ellen Rainville reported the library is transitioning to fiscal year 2027 with union voting underway for CWA and OPEIU contracts, while the board discussed budget directives for 2028-30 that will increase operating hours from 50-59 per week due to population growth.
